Four types of engagement, matched to the decision in front of you.
Each mode answers a different kind of question. Read them and you will know which conversation is worth having.
Strategic Sprint
A focused engagement on a single strategic question. A deep-dive diagnostic, a written assessment with clear recommendations, and a working session to pressure-test the plan. Deliberately narrow and low-commitment. It is the fastest way to see whether we are the right fit before anything larger.
Where it fits
One question that has to be answered before anything else moves: who this is really for, what the price should be anchored to, or whether to raise now, later, or not at all.
Strategy Engagement
End-to-end strategy for a defined inflection point. Diagnosis, framework, roadmap, and the execution support to make the recommendations real. For founders who want the thinking and the follow-through in one place.
Where it fits
A defined inflection. A repositioning, a first or next market, or a business model that has to hold as you move up-market and widen the product.
Advisory Retainer
Embedded strategic counsel through execution. Ongoing access to a partner who knows the business and stays close as the decisions unfold. For founders who want judgment available when they need it, not a one-off deck.
Where it fits
The decisions keep arriving and you want judgment close to the business, from someone who already knows it, rather than a view assembled from scratch each time.
M&A Advisory
Buy-side or sell-side support through a transaction. Target identification or acquirer positioning, the narrative, and diligence. For founders approaching a deal that will define the company's next chapter.
Where it fits
A transaction ahead, on either side of the table, where the narrative and the positioning decide as much as the numbers do.
You invest a little, you receive something real, then you decide.
Every step gives you something you can judge before the next commitment. That is what lowers the risk, for both sides.
The Datum
- You invest
- A short set of questions, answered honestly.
- You receive
- An honest picture of where your strategy stands and your single biggest exposure. No pitch.
The first conversation
- You invest
- One hour, founder to founder.
- You receive
- An honest view on whether there is real work here, and whether I am the right person for it. No fee, and built to test the fit both ways.
A Strategic Perspective
- You invest
- Access to what you actually know about the business.
- You receive
- A written assessment of your situation, so you can judge the depth before you commit to anything.
The engagement
- You invest
- The decisions that sit with you.
- You receive
- The mode that matches the question in front of you, carried through execution rather than handed over.
These are the questions founders actually ask.
Fit
- Why a specialist, and not a generalist or a large consultancy?
- This industry has its own buyers, its own adoption cycles, and its own reasons for resisting change. A generalist learns all of that while you pay for it. I have spent 25 years inside this industry, including senior strategic roles at a category leader. You get judgment shaped by this sector, not a framework borrowed from another one. And unlike a large firm, the person who runs the diagnosis is the person who stays through the work.
- We are in PropTech, or an adjacent platform, not core ConTech or AEC SaaS. Are we a fit?
- Probably yes. ConTech and AEC SaaS are the core. PropTech, smart building, and infrastructure platforms sit close to it, and the same buyers and the same strategic questions usually apply. The honest way to find out is the first conversation. There is no fee for it, and it exists to test the fit.
- We are very early, or not yet funded. Is this for us?
- It can be. The first conversation has no fee, and it is open to any founder at a real inflection point. Early and pre-funded founders usually start with The Datum. In selected cases there is also a Founding Client arrangement, built for exactly this stage. The work is the same either way. What changes is how you start.
Value and outcome
- What do I actually get?
- A sharper decision, and the confidence to act on it. Sometimes that means a repositioning, a pricing model, an investor narrative, or a decision about entering a new market. You never get volume for its own sake. A short assessment that changes your direction is worth more than a long report nobody opens.
- How do I know it is worth it before I commit?
- You start with a conversation. If a strategy will not survive contact with reality, I will tell you early, before any engagement. Honest counsel means I tell you what you need to hear, not what is easiest to sell. That first conversation is there to lower the risk for both sides.
- Do you hand over a deck and leave?
- No. Most consultancies deliver a document and leave. I stay from strategy through execution, so the recommendations become results rather than slides. I measure success by what changed in the business, not by what I handed over.
How it works
- How do we start?
- With The Datum, a short diagnostic that shows where your strategy stands. If the picture is worth a conversation, the first call has no fee. Where it fits, the next step is a Strategic Perspective, a written assessment of your situation. From there we move to an engagement, if both sides want to continue.
- How much of my time does this take?
- Less than you would expect. A few focused sessions, online or in person, to assess where the strategy stands and shape the response. Much of the work happens outside those sessions, so founder time stays at the minimum unless you want to be more involved.
- Can you help with execution, not only strategy?
- Yes. I stay through execution on the strategy itself. When the work needs building, redesigning, or hands-on delivery, I bring in trusted specialised knowledge rather than a generalist framework. You get one owner for the strategy and its execution.
The Datum
- What is The Datum, and is it just a lead magnet?
- The Datum is my own method. It assesses where your strategy stands across the six areas that decide the next stage, and gives you a clear position. It is a real diagnostic, not a brochure. It tells you what it finds. What to do about it is the conversation that follows.
Start where the picture is clearest.
The Datum shows where your strategy stands. If the picture is worth a conversation, the first call is 60 minutes, no commitment.
